Whether Real Madrid, Manchester United or any other team could afford Fernández, Caicedo or Palmer, even if Chelsea reluctantly opened themselves up to offers, is highly debatable. But trying to keep unhappy star players rarely ends well, which is why the owners need to convince them that their project can satisfy their ambition and financial demands.
