Lent invites us to undergo the same journey - from darkness into light. As St. Paul reminds us in the 2nd Reading: "You were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light." The darkness he speaks about is not only ignorance but sin, pride, and stubbornness of heart. These can blind us just as surely as physical blindness.
