Attempts to Raise the Requirement Have Failed/ This is not working system must be changed
Several lawmakers have tried to amend the Constitution to require a university degree for the presidency.
But the House of Representatives has repeatedly stepped down or rejected these bills.

Reasons include:

Avoiding discrimination against less-educated citizens

Preventing political exclusion

Maintaining broad democratic access
