The Constitution Sets a Low Minimum on Purpose
Section 131(d) of the 1999 Constitution states that a presidential candidate must be “educated up to at least School Certificate level or its equivalent.”
This is far below a university degree.

LawPàdí explains that this low bar is intentional—the framers wanted the presidency to be accessible to any Nigerian, not just the elite.
