Lagos State’s population is widely estimated between about 15.7 million and 17.8 million, depending on the source and whether you count only the state or the full urban agglomeration. The most recent projections place the broader Lagos metropolitan area at about 17.8 million people in 2026.

Right now, the best available data shows that about 18 million children in Nigeria are not in school, while globally the number is about 272–278 million children out of school.
