Oba Adeoye: NDPA 2023: Nigeria Data Protection Act — the main law governing how you handle customer data when using AI. This requires lawful basis for processing, customer consent, data minimization, and breach reporting. It is enforced by the NDPC (i.e Nigeria Data Protection Commission)
Oba Adeoye: NITDA: Digital innovation regulator — issues AI sandbox guidelines and emerging tech rules. Engage proactively with NITDA if building AI-powered products. NITDA is National Information Technology Development Agency.
Oba Adeoye: CBN: Fintech & credit — if you use AI for credit scoring, fraud detection, or payments, CBN evaluates model explainability, fairness, and consumer transparency before approval. CBN is Central Bank of Nigeria.
Oba Adeoye: NDPA: Automated decisions — customers have the right not to be subject to decisions based solely on AI (e.g. loan refusals, hiring screens) without human review or their consent. This is, Nigeria Data Protection Act, 2023
