We often say it with pride:

Our youth are the leaders of tomorrow.

It sounds inspiring.
It sounds responsible.
But hidden inside that phrase is a subtle problem.

It postpones leadership.

It quietly tells young people:
Your time hasn’t come yet.

But leadership is not a future event.
It is a present practice.
