Many young men today still carry a sense of entitlement. Some treat women as if they are objects instead of human beings with feelings, dignity, and a heart that can be hurt.
Yes, a wife is called to submit to her husband. Also a husband is commanded to love his wife just as Christ loved the Church and gave Himself for it. Marriage makes two people one flesh. So when a man hurts or mistreats his wife, he is actually hurting himself without realizing it.
