Nigeria Spends N27.2 Trillion on Debt Servicing.

Nigeria spent about ₦27.2 trillion servicing public debt between 2024 and 2025, placing heavy pressure on government finances.

According to the Federal Ministry of Finance, debt payments rose due to naira depreciation and higher domestic interest rates.

In 2024 and 2025, debt servicing exceeded budget projections and consumed a large share of revenue, reaching nearly two-thirds of government income by 2025.
