The Parable of the Prodigal Son story. This is exactly what happens when we come to God with sincere repentance, especially in the Sacrament of Confession. No matter how serious or how numerous our sins may be, God is always ready to forgive. He does not forgive reluctantly. He forgives joyfully. Heaven itself celebrates the return of one repentant sinner. As Jesus says, there is great rejoicing among the angels when someone comes back to God.
