US Embassy in Abuja Temporarily Closes Over Protest Concerns.

The US Mission in Nigeria has temporarily closed its Abuja embassy until March 9, 2026, citing potential protests in the capital.

Visa & American Citizen Services (ACS) appointments originally set for March 4–5 have been rescheduled.

The closure follows security concerns over planned demonstrations by the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, expressing solidarity with Iran after reports of the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah.
