Chemistry and looks are great, but they don't help much when life gets heavy. Marry the person who is safe to be "messy" around. You want someone who won't use your insecurities against you during a fight, and who shows up even when you aren't "fun" to be around. Look for emotional endurance. You need a teammate who sees your struggle and says, "I'm not going anywhere.
