Nigeria’s diversity makes the Sharia debate sensitive. Many non-Muslims fear religious law expanding beyond personal faith into public life. Many Muslims simply want freedom to practice their religion. Extremists exploit this tension to push division. The real issue is not Islam versus others, but protecting equal citizenship, constitutional rights, and ensuring no group imposes belief by force in a plural society.
