Nigeria already grapples with elite capture where wealthy business actors and political elites merge interests (a classic oligarchy).
Let’s be real: when private businesses gain political influence through the backdoor — lobbying, patronage, contracts, regulatory capture — it leads to:
Weak enforcement of checks and balances
Crippled competition (big firms lobbying 4 protectionist policy)
Policy distortion that prioritizes elite profits over citizen welfare
