Erosion of Democratic Neutrality.
Traditional rulers traditionally hold cultural authority, not political clout. When the government pulls them into partisan politics:
They become instruments of political agendas rather than community mediators.
Their legitimacy — long built on tradition, not votes — gets weaponized to endorse political outcomes.
This undermines democratic processes because people start trusting chiefs appointed or influenced by the state more than constitutional
