Jack Dorsey, CEO of Block Inc., is laying off 4,000 employees due to major AI efficiency gains, not financial issues.

He stated that AI advancements since December 2025 now allow 6,000 employees to handle work that previously required over 10,000. Affected staff will receive 20 weeks’ pay, tenure-based compensation, six months of health coverage, and $5,000 in transition support.
