Maduro demands the U.S. drop criminal charges against him

Representatives of former Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro argue that the United States violated his right to self-defense by blocking Venezuelan state funds intended to cover the head of state’s legal expenses.

Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Silvia Flores, were detained and taken to the United States during an operation on January 3. They face charges of “narco-terrorism,” drug trafficking, and weapons possession.
