If no ransom was paid for the release of schoolchildren, as the Nigerian government says, Nigerians deserve clear evidence of how the abducted children were freed and why no kidnappers were arrested. Years of poorly handled insecurity have fuelled public suspicion. When victims are released without visible enforcement action, questions arise. How did this happen without payment or consequences? Transparency, not denial, will restore trust.
