I just saw reports that Nyesom Wike was “monitoring” the area council bye-elections in the Federal Capital Territory. It raises a simple question: when a powerful official shows up during active voting, is it oversight or influence? Once power begins to hover too closely around the ballot box, that confidence can quickly turn into pressure. Elections should allow voters and officials to act freely without pressure.
