The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, was personally monitoring the ongoing area council bye-elections across the territory.
Wike’s “monitoring” exercise, after imposing a curfew on voters is meddling in the election. Wike is not even a registered voter in the FCT.
Wike has no constitutional role in the election exercise. His presence during active voting is therefore not only meddlesome, but also poses a serious intimidation of voters and officials.
