When I was Nigeria
I was a melting pot.
I was created of hardrock
To crack a tough nut.
North and South bonded
By the cord of tolerance.
Many arms to embrace

That was me then
That was myself
And then..

Look at me now
Permeated in egg yokes
Ruptured in spasm of disorder
Binding twines pervaded
Spine of heritage fragmented
Indigenous shrines violated
Foreign gods rule the streets
frightened union in disarray.
And in puddle I melted
Am I Nigeria now?
