I felt lonely: sitting in the bathroom during lunch because I didn’t know where else to go, pretending things were fine when friends from back home in Nigeria asked how school was going.

At some point, I got tired of waiting for a change. If no one was coming up to me, I’d have to start going up to them it wasn’t easy. Some people ignored me. Some conversations died quickly.
