It felt strange because I wasn’t used to that. Back home, it was hard to feel invisible. People introduced themselves; new students didn’t stay new for long. Here, I could go through an entire day without anyone saying my name. Most days I return home and cried. I was embarrassed by how much it bothered me, but it did. I started overthinking everything: how I dressed, how I spoke, my hair.
