The Federal Government has ordered the immediate closure of a mining site in Plateau State after several villagers reportedly died from inhaling toxic gases while engaging in artisanal mining, in a tragedy that has renewed concerns over the dangers of abandoned mineral sites and informal extraction across Nigeria.
