Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, a sacred season of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving in the Catholic Church.
Today, ashes are placed on our foreheads in the shape of the cross, with the words: “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return,” or “Repent and believe in the Gospel.” These words remind us of our human weakness, our need for God’s mercy, and the call to true repentance.
We should use this opportunity to have a change of heart.
