Just because he comes back does not mean he has changed. Sometimes people return not because they have grown, but because they are lonely, bored, rejected elsewhere, or seeking comfort in what is familiar. There is no guarantee that he will treat you better this time. In fact, many people repeat the same behavior once they regain access to you.
