The Nigerian Senate has passed the Electoral Act (Repeal and Re-enactment) Bill, 2026, allowing electronic transmission of election results but not requiring real-time transmission.
The final version of Clause 60 mandates electronic transmission to the IREV portal after results are signed and stamped, with Form EC8A as the primary record if transmission fails.
The bill also reschedules the 2027 elections to avoid Ramadan and corrects discrepancies across multiple clauses.
