National Assembly Considers January 16 for 2027 Presidential Election.

The National Assembly of Nigeria and Independent National Electoral Commission are considering shifting the 2027 presidential election to January 16, 2027, from the earlier February 20 date. Governorship polls may hold on January 30.

The proposal follows concerns that the original schedule coincided with Ramadan. Lawmakers have suspended Electoral Act harmonisation to deliberate on the new dates.
