Nigeria’s current economic hardship cannot be understood outside the context of structural reforms.
Fuel subsidy removal and FX unification were fiscally inevitable, but the speed of implementation transferred the adjustment burden to households and SMEs.
The real question is not whether reform was necessary, but whether social cushioning and productivity reforms are keeping pace.
