Revenge will always leave a bitter taste at the end. This is supported by both psychological research and philosophical thought, which suggest that while retaliation may offer fleeting satisfaction, it ultimately fails to provide lasting peace and often results in increased misery for the person seeking it. 
Instead of ending the pain, revenge keeps the original hurt alive. People who take revenge often feel worse and more distressed afterward than those who do nothing.
