In 2009, an unusual incident in Kwara State drew national attention after the Nigerian Police reportedly arrested a goat on suspicion of attempted armed robbery in Ilorin. According to police accounts, vigilante members on night patrol claimed they caught hoodlums attempting to steal a Mazda 323. While pursuing the suspects, one allegedly escaped as the other was said to have transformed into a goat. The vigilantes apprehended the animal near the scene and handed it over to the police.
