Colonization was a chapter, not the beginning of the book, before occupation, Africa was a cradle of civilization, trade, science, and art. Kingdoms rose, treaties were signed, cultures flourished, and knowledge was advanced on African terms.
To start our history with colonization is to erase:
▪️ The University of Sankoré
▪️ The Benin Bronzes
▪️ The Kingdom of Kush
▪️ The Swahili Coast trade networks
▪️ And countless other testaments to pre-colonial agency.
