Nigeria has one of the highest maternal mortality rates globally. Recent estimates place it at around 1,047 deaths per 100,000 live births.The maternal mortality ratio (MMR) in Nigeria was estimated at over 800 per 100,000 live births in 2015. There has been no significant improvement since then. This should concern the government.
