Why Accountability Feels Weak in Nigeria.
Nigeria’s accountability problem isn’t about apathy — it’s about a system that exhausts its citizens. Daily struggles with power, insecurity, and rising costs push survival ahead of civic action. Weak institutions make it hard to punish leaders, while ethnic and regional loyalties often protect politicians regardless of performance. Limited transparency keeps citizens in the dark, and years of unfulfilled promises create fatigue and distrust.
